Requirement-dependent sprites in tilesets

What if we could make some sprites in tilesets depending on requirements? For example, show snowy terrain and fur-clad units on some year fragments, or another sprite for king units if the leader is female (no such req now but could be done) or the nation is Cynocephals? That would be more effective to do things like this client-side than server-side.

I have hate quite similar idea. It is unit per-player sprite/data depending on requirement vector. It could be especially useful for tech-related requirement. If player A decided to attack player B with horseman and player B don't have animal husbandry(or horseback ridding) discovered, player B could see unknown unit with unknown statistics.
