This is not yet required for freeciv proper, but maybe some day. It would be nice to have the gfx. Custom ruleset "variant2" already would need this.

Freeciv-2.6 introduces support for wild animals barbarian type. Lion would be such an wild animal unit.

Commons offers a File:Lion_icon.png, does that help?

I notice there's an SVG base, if you can scale that and convert it to PNG of a size you want...
Lion's 40x40 size made it pretty easy. Just added a shadow below it and put it on an amplio2 unit sized canvas.

Here is a lion I made for trident. It came out a little cutesy, which may be a problem. I don't know.

Also available on OpenClipArt, lion + tiger + bear added to Category:Animal_kingdom. There are some variants for the tiger, maybe that could help for the cimpletoons

Cimpletoon needs 8 (one for each direction unit may face) sprites. All the current units have blender models from which the different directions have been rendered.
