We are planning a game (LT40) where you could build stuff with a diplomat or with spy. Spies will have a considerably higher cost. However it would be nice the player could be able to build diplomats for a while after the spies have been invented. Because of that a spy can't obsolete diplomat.
Would it be possible to have a tech that would prevent diplomats from being build?
I'm not even sure if this approach would suit the players but it might be worth exploring.
I'm asking too many weird questions because of the LT40
Preventing the player from building something
Re: Preventing the player from building something
Create another unit ("Secret Agent" or something) that does more or less the same thing as a Spy, Secret Agent obsoletes Diplomat, set tech requirement for Secret Agent wherever you want

Re: Preventing the player from building something
Yeah, that would do the trick. Then again now when I think about it, maybe a nreq with tech(s) for unit might also work. Need to test that once I have the chance.
