How to make everything bigger?

Post by mik334 »

Hi,
I love Freeciv (actually 2.5.3) but I need that everything in the game is bigger, I want to double the size (height and width) of units and terrain tiles. Is this possible?

Agree. My eyesight is very poor. The ability to enlarge would be beneficial.

Hey there. I actually tried using Freeland (big) and it didn't make things very much bigger, but rather increased the visual distance that everything is away from everything else but not how long it takes for units to reach a different destination.

what I would really like is a zoom tool to zoom in and out as I please.

I'm not sure what the time it takes a unit to get to its destination has to do with making things bigger?
If you want units to move faster, that'd be done by editting rulesets. If you want more tiles in the world, that is a game setting.

As for zooming, it would be nice, but I don't really know how that would be accomplished. It would be nice, though.

Sorry to revive a 4 yo thread, but I'm having the same problem.
My eyesight is not as good as it was and screen resolutions are now much larger, I have problems to recognize same units.
The only idea I have is to lower the screen resolution but that will affect all other applications.

If that meters, I'm playing on a raspberry pi 4 with ubuntu.

I remember civ1 when the screen was 320x200, I don't need that much but 2x or even 3x would be nice.

Thank you

Likely, you should contact "Art and tilesets" subforum to make bigger units. Freeland (big) tileset, likely, resizes only the terrains.

Just hit "+" to zoom in and "-" to zoom out, or use the Display menu.
