Bump for later, anything good with CC-BY-SA 4.0 might contain parts suited for the Wiki (less than 10 MB or found on a site supported by [s]FANDOM[/s]Wikia), but I'm not testing 125 MB now, maybe later this year.

Later = yesterday: I tested 1 hour of WLAN speed before risking € 30 for a complete month. Song of Doom is a fully populated musicspec for 2.6, maybe I'll use it as start, and replace anything I've heard often enough by other music, easier than to start from scratch.

Copying the complete musicpack to the Wiki was a silly idea, but copying it to modpack.freeciv.org could make sense :?: So far one artist (should be more) is now represented on the Wiki with links to various sources, where folks can find "more like this" (or at least this thread.)

Is it just me or do all the ones by HFX start with a noise that makes you want to claw your eyes out?

Yes, some ON-switch. A Light in the Darkness of Destruction by Phyrnna (HFX) on YouTube apparently doesn't have it, but also isn't as it should be, because it's already in the source MP3. In theory the about 6 MB MP3 can be converted to about 4 MB OGA (vorbis @205 kb/s) with a fade in/out -filter:a afade=d=1 (recipe found with a search engine), but I see no license on this page. :x

Three years later, I've copied the Ross Bugden music in the SongOfDoom musicset to a YouTube playlist, if folks want to check the CC-BY-SA licences, create fresh Ogg / Opus / MP3 audio versions, or upload more music to the Wiki.

This is a great music set. Few questions...

1. How do you know what time period you are in? The music set has time periods such as European, Classical, Tropical, Asian, Babylonian, etc.
2. What is the rule about how the music plays? It seems freeciv only runs through the set of music once and does not replay any. Is this client specific? I am running GTK2 client if it matters.
3. Would it be possible to add this as a modpack?
Thanks
