Modding for freeciv-2.5

Post by cazfi »

Freeciv-2.5 got network protocol frozen yesterday, and branch is currently in "beta build" mode though we don't know yet when first actual beta release will come out. Datafile formats have been frozen for some time already, so it should be possible to test modpacks aimed for 2.5 with current S2_5 builds. Obviously it being in before-beta1 state it's far from being stable version, but in case someone wants to use it for building freeciv-2.5 modpacks already, I made windows installer build of the code earlier today (several bugs have already been fixed since then in the source code). I had opportunity only to make the build - these are completely untested, including whether the installation process works. Please report results here if you test them.

We don't have 2.5 Release Notes yet, but here are notes for release notes compiling process: http://mail.gna.org/public/freeciv-dev/ ... 00202.html (first couple of items have a lot of commits/ticket numbers associated with them, but scroll downward and you find more items)

For those wondering which one client to download: gtk2-client is still more robust than gtk3 one, there has been no significant development on sdl-client.
