Re: Global warming makes games boring

In latest versions, Global warming changes land tiles to oceans directly. You can see it in the 2.4.x .../data/default/terrain.ruleset looking for warmer_wetter_result , affected were grassland, jungle, plains, swamp, and tundra. Changing the URL to S2_3 and then S2_2 I think you are talking about ...

Re: Forum upgraded to phpBB 3.1

Their favicon-recipe, maybe rename the suggested freeciv-client.ico or start with the hilarious 16x16 favicon.ico, or roll your own from what you see in patch #7249 and patch #7072.

Re: Galactic Ruleset

Is there a "continue play even when you are the only player" option yet in Freeciv? I am told commercial Civ games tend to allow that nowadays, since who does not enjoy playing around on THEIR planet once it is truly, exclusively, only THEIRS? :) It gets kind of silly everyone having to k...

Re: Windows testing

Quick test Freeciv-2.6.0-alpha+r32668-msys2-win32-gtk3-setup.exe: Immediate uninstall and delete download, it starts as full screen, and there is no obvious way to start it in a window.

Re: Windows testing

Quick test of freeciv-mp-cli.exe (32bits, crosser 1.0.7, r32688): Without options the tool apparently displays the 2.6/modpack.list . Options /? , /h , and -? fail, but -h or --help work. I tested intentionally what folks on Windows would try. The /? and /h abominations are optional, DOS 2.x could b...

Help browser images

For some versions including GTK2 2.5 the help browser shows decent images for units and techs. It should also do this for nations (= show large flag no matter what the tileset says), terrains, wonders + buildings (sprites for big wonders + buildings, not the .../data/misc/buildings.png grid), and id...

Re: amplio2hexbig tileset 2.4

This stuff can be confusing. Several amplio2hexbig modpacks for 2.4 exist: 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7c, and 1.7d. If the ~/.freeciv/2.4/.control/modpack.list on my box doesn't lie I did not get amplio2hexbig as modpack (unclear). IOW, I can't tell which version I have and how I got it, but I could load it t...

End of Support for phpBB 3.0.x

Just in case, the phpBB version is fortunately not obvious, maybe this forum is 3.1.x and not affected: End of Support for phpBB 3.0.x.

While at it, apparently this subdomain has no favicon.ico, also see Gna! patch #7249.

Re: Sextant

FWIW there is now a sextant entry on the tilesets and projects wiki pages. If you want a "better" license for the screenshot holler: GPL is the default in this sub-forum, but not ideally suited for "art" (images, sounds, music, videos, manuals, or everything else excluding code :...
