Re: ranking
Quick plausibilty check, the normal map size for 1+4 players (one human, four AIs) is 4 (=4000), and 5 (=5000) is already too much. For 1+19 you would need map size 18 (=18000=20x900) to get a similar space per player. And you need four times of the normal huts (1+19=20=5x4), e.g., 200 huts instead ...

Re: The small colorful little person pattern
2.5.0-beta1 is already more fun than 2.4.3. But if you are on Windows do not disable Autosave, you'll need it when the client crashes. You can clean up unused old auto-save files manually. With Autosave you can also undo stupid errors (clicked something you didn't want to click), just leave the game...

Re: Why great library is so hard
Don't worry about (normal or weaker) AIs starting Great Wall and switching to Great Library early. Their capital sucks, their economy sucks, their military sucks, and they need many turns to finish the Great Library. You can't get it always, and if you get it it's not a 100% sure win. If you don't g...

Re: an easy question
If you have the gold to finish a wall in two of your cities without walls in turn 60, and a warrior + catapult everywhere, the first barbarians have no chance. Alternatively in cities with a warrior + wall you need the gold to finish the catapult in one or two cities under attack. As others wrote in...

Re: Masjid mod?
Buildings depending on the nation would be tricky. Example: There is a wonder "Michelangelo's Chapel" (yet another non-neutral name), and an [effect_cathedral] in effects.ruleset, which in essence renders all cathedrals as redundant. IOW, you can sell all cathedrals if you hope to keep thi...

Re: Delete or load saved games
"Everything with "quitidle" in its name could be an unfinished game after a client crash." You sure about this? I don't have crashes, and "quitidle" comes up when I quit a game normally. I'm only playing against the AIs so far, and on my box "could be" is act...

Re: Delete or load saved games
Can someone explane me how I can delete my old games? Open the directory (folder) %APPDATA%\.freeciv\saves where %APPDATA% can be C:\users\your-logon-account\AppData\Roaming on Windows Vista or later. For XP it could be C:\Documents and Settings\your-logon-account-name\Application Data\.freeciv\sav...

Re: Broken Modpack Installer (2.4.2, XP SP3)
much less put it in the correct folders. Are you sure you know which that is, in Windows XP installation? JFTR, the correct folder is %APPDATA%/.freeciv/2.4 for a 2.4.x ModPack installer on any Windows where it works at all (should include XP, but I'm only using 7 or W2K). The ModPack installer doe...

Re: Game fails to start
This might be a clue: I have no problems with 2.4.3 on Windows 7 (64bits). Some days ago my budget for online connections ran out, at that point in time I already had the 2.4.3 portable edition (PAF), but not the regular "install/setup" version 2.4.3. Therefore I simply copied my existing ...

Ocean resources
Something that should be easy (otherwise ignore it, please): I like tiny islands and poles connecting continents, there are options for this, they work, so this is fine. But to see the effect of ocean_resources=1 I have to clone a complete ruleset, because there is no option for it. Background, it's...
