Re: Trident grafics
More units for today Nr. III: Sherman: That's a frontal perspective view, I'm assuming. Because otherwise that's the silliest most squished looking tank I've ever seen. Looks like a 2-wheeled star wars droid. You need more contrast between light and dark shades to really show how some faces of the ...

Re: Trident grafics
And more for today II: Mi-24: This looks way too flat. I can't tell immediately that I'm looking at an attack helicopter from the front. USE SHADING!!! Looking closely I can see that you went through the trouble of using multiple colors in the image to show the glass and some darker areas, but it b...

Re: Trident grafics
Some of these are getting pretty good, so they are getting harder and more technical to critique. I would recommend looking at some old pixel art to get a sense of how shading and a bright or dark pixel here and there can imply details in an image that you could not possibly have the resolution to d...

How would I make the AI play for 100 turns?
I want to create a modern filled-out world, but I don't want to spend the time playing through a game myself, or influencing the results of the world. How would I go about making the AI play through the game for a fixed number of turns? When I make myself the Observer, nobody does anything and I can...

RoundSquare tileset
Playing a Longturn game recently, I found out two important things : Viewing a map this large requires a 30x30 tileset. Trident makes my eyes bleed  So I embarked on an epic quest of graphics editing, and lost a weekend or two in the seductive "Save changes, Reload tileset, Make new chang...

Re: Made my own version of Sextant
I want to think of a better name for this tileset than "SextantHans" before I publish it. (I am assuming "Sextant" was a play off of "Trident" since it's 60px instead of 30px.) Any suggestions? SextantHans? PrettySextant? Seginta? SexyTiles? In the mean time, I was forc...

Re: 2.6 gtk3 Fonts issues: Resets to default size
I remember fiddling with the font sizes in the tilespec files when playing with graphics for a 2.5 tileset, but I couldn't find that setting in the tilespecs for the 2.6 tileset, so I was relying on the client font settings. Maybe I should look again. But yes, it is an interesting puzzle for how the...

How does one go about joining/playing one of these games?
New player here. I'm interested in joining one of these Long-turn games, but I'm not totally sure how to go about this. Are there step by step instructions anywhere that cover the how and what of participating in this form of multiplayer game? It seems like everybody "already knows" what t...

Re: Trident grafics
What I usually do to add shading is I create a new layer above the main sprite, set it's transparency to 127 (or lower if need be), and then color in with black white or gray. This way you can erase your shading work without ruining the original base graphic. Samurai: Looks...ok. The stance makes it...
