It's currently quite quite, though, as we have not managed to get it integrated with the ticket system at hostedredmine.

Developers also hang at #freeciv-dev IRC channel at freenode.

Maybe you have 'none' in Game -> Options -> Local Client -> Sound -> Sound Plugin? Change it to 'sdl', save settings, and restart client.
