Re: User stories - How did you learn playing Freeciv ?

There's no compelling reason to tweak the barbarian settings, just get a wall + phalanx + catapult in all cities before turn 60 ( classic , civ2civ3 has this later), or more precisely, have enough gold to buy the unfinished wall or unfinished catapult in turn 60 or later on demand. I usually try to...

Re: User stories - How did you learn playing Freeciv ?

So here is my story: My first game was back in the 1.x days. I was about 10 years old, and I didn't even know of Sid Meier's games. By the time I had built 3 cities, Koreans had a few dozens. I remember founding a city in the desert to get more production "out of the oil". (Bush had invade...

User stories - How did you learn playing Freeciv ?

Hello, I can see many people having trouble winning games against the AI. This thread is an attempt at retracing Freeciv users' histories, or how they learned how to play. I hope these stories can help beginners understand the game. Those interested in developing learning tools could also find them ...

Re: Qt feature request: Lock Interface button

Now Im finishing new city dialog fitting to page. I'd gladly help redesigning parts of the UI, but I don't know your plans. I made two "experiments" for the city dialog some time ago. The first one featured little change apart from a new Economy tab, providing more discoverable access to ...

Re: 3d globe view of map in Freeciv-web

Hello, Is it fixed in production or in code only ? Navigation is still difficult. I recorded a short screencast [edit: here it is ] of what happens when I open the globe (without pressing any key): my country disappears quickly… As I understand, the globe spins at constant (or random) speed, whether...

Re: 3d globe view of map in Freeciv-web

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have some more information about when it doesnt work? I was trying to center the view by right-clicking the minimap. My bad! I didn't get the globe isn't integrated into the main map yet. Some issues I found today: - I have trouble using the globe (wasd don't mean an...

Re: Catfish TOT graphics - HELP!

Is anyone able to break this down for me so I can get my head around it? I really want to know the process first before I even attempt to tinker with anything... how does everything work? Thanks! Hello, It's often easier to learn by trial-and-error. To my knowledge, there is no up-to-date documenta...

Re: 3d globe view of map in Freeciv-web

Hello,

Works for me on Intel HD 4000 with Mesa 11.2.1 and Firefox 46.0.1 (Gtk3 version). Sometimes city labels are drawn a bit too late, and the minimap just doesn't work.
It's great to see Freeciv(-web) running on GL at least!

Re: Looking for earth map which is not twisted

Hello, For the "twisted" problem: try a different tileset, such as "trident" (Game > Options > Client Options). You'll get retro graphics, but the rotation will be gone. In 2.6, I can see at least three Earth maps (maybe some of them come from the modpack installer), from a very ...

Re: questions, plus

1) It helps, because you always get the output of the city tile "for free" (no unhappiness) 2) In my experience, the starting positions are almost always spread out. How many players do you play against ? 3) In C, plus a bit of Lua scripting, some C++ for the Qt client and Javascript for t...
