Re: play.freeciv.org has been shut down
I've written some more words about the current state of things in a thread in the Freeciv-web forum.

play.freeciv.org / freeciv-web revival discussion
(Here I am speaking for myself, rather than freeciv.org.) I'm sad that it's gone and would like to see it back, but I can't volunteer to organise or coordinate this or put any significant time into it, I'm afraid. I think cazfi cannot either (although I don't speak for them), and I don't know of any...

play.freeciv.org has been shut down
The web version of Freeciv, play.freeciv.org, was shut down on 3 March 2018. The sole volunteer who was running the service is no longer willing to continue doing so. We haven't identified anyone else on the (very small) Freeciv team who has the skills and time to run this service hosted on freeciv....

Re: Where to get older freeciv versions?
Seems that 2.5.10 users are having lots of issues on longturn.org. All seems to be client UI related, GTK and both Win and Linux. For avoidance of doubt: our 2.5.11 release plans aren't going to address any such issues on Linux, since our remedy is to revert a Windows library change. However, no-on...

Re: AmplioHexBig 2.6
Is this something the game engine really ought to be taking care of, do you think?GriffonSpade wrote:Big features of this version are 'sprite curtains' for base layer stuff. Basically, it means when zoomed and tiles are stretched, there will be normally covered pixels preventing black lines from showing.

Re: AmplioHexBig 2.6
AmplioHexBig v2.6.03 Part4.zip appears to have the same content as AmplioHexBig v2.6.03 Part1.zip except that it lacks the top-level .tilespec files.

Re: Graphics bugs in Freeciv on Mac OS
With regard to your no-animation problem: I don't have access to a Mac and don't know very much about how they work, but that said: I vaguely wonder if this has anything to do with the problem that our recent "frame-by-frame animation" changes ( hrm #700707 ) are meant to solve. So I wonde...

Re: Two questions on Rulesets
Can I make the game post custom strings under specific circumstances? Like, triggering a certain effect has a notification printed to the messages log. You would probably need to use Lua scripting for that; there are only a few places where the ruleset lets you specify messages (e.g. the Philosophy...

Re: City_Radius_Sq and settler city range
The outline drawn around city-founder units just uses init_city_radius_sq, I'm afraid; it doesn't look at effects at all.

If I were any good, I'd go and customise it, but in the meantime, here's a screenshot for anyone else who's confused.
