Re: Art wanted for showcasing game engine features (2.6+)

As I understand it, the first animal in the list is the only one that will appear (at start of game) in that terrain. But you do need to include all animals that will be able to move on that terrain. That's why civ2civ3_earth includes several animals in each terrain, and several terrains are shown ...

Re: Art wanted for showcasing game engine features (2.6+)

each terrain can have only one animal. I'm certain that's not true- civ2civ3_earth has animals on multiple terrain types each, many of which overlap. I'm afraid it is true, but civ2civ3_earth believes it is not, which I hadn't spotted. Oh, dear. civ2civ3_earth has help saying things like Snakes can...

Stable release 2.6.0

Rather more than three years after 2.5.0, and representing over five years of development, the next major version of Freeciv, 2.6.0, has been released. 2.6.x includes a redesigned Qt client with multiplayer features, experimental map scaling, a substantially revised version of the civ2civ3 ruleset, ...

Re: worker got eaten by town

It's a surprise to me. Can't think of many other causes than ones already mentioned.

What version of Freeciv, and what ruleset?

Re: Unbalanced Geographical Distribution of Core Civs

Some thoughts: The original selection of the Core nation group is basically inherited from the original Civ games, so inherits their biases. See gna patch #3432 for rationale. (It's not much of an excuse, but it's an excuse.) Changing the Core set is a bit fraught (noted in patch #3448 ). We can bas...

Re: Team colour tint for units

There is no tinting in the graphics engine currently. I have been idly musing about adding some as a cheap way to get placeholder "programmer graphics" for new units to playtest them, but I've not done anything about it. There is already "background colour", but it gives player c...

Re: pollution script?

Be warned though; if there aren't any special orders given through the city overview (as JTN explained), your autosettlers might do do something that's not exactly what you have in mind. Yes, that's true; once you've unleashed autosettlers, you had better like their decisions. (I hope you like mine...

Re: 2.6 beta won't recognize new units.ruleset files

Could be that units.ruleset contains UTF-8 characters, whereas techs.ruleset and government.ruleset contain only ASCII. My bet is on this in most 2.6 units.ruleset files: [unit_diplomat] name = _("Diplomat") ; ... veteran_names = ; /* TRANS: diplomatic rank. */ _("?diplomatic_rank:att...

Re: pollution script?

I'm afraid not. Autosettlers are supposed to clean up pollution. Their primary motivation is to improve city output, but they do take the risk of global warming into account too. I've been investigating this recently, and it's not that they don't want to clean up pollution -- they do -- but they are...
