Re: hex display
You need to have a hex tileset. While running a game, open the "File" menu and go to the local settings. In the tab "Graphics", there should be an option to choose the tileset. The hex2t tileset is the default hex tileset in the game. The map you play on should also be hex though...

Re: Combat Animation Not Displaying
While the game is running, go to the "File" menu. There should be some kind of "Local Settings" thing. You should look for an option regarding combat animations.

Re: Undo last move
effects.rulesetIn Freeciv 2.3.4 it's the very first effect. Can't miss it.

Re: Visibility affected by Terrain
I already tried out decreasing the vision radius using effects based on the terrain the unit is on. Re: Undo last move
1) That option would be great, but fact is, Singleplayer actually hosts a server too, and up until Freeciv 2.3.4(the current stable release), other can actually connect to it.
2) The "unhappysize" option still exists, not as a server option, but as a ruleset option.

Re: Visibility affected by Terrain
I don't think it's (currently) possible to have terrain "block" the vision of far-sighted units. While it's possible to increase a units vision range using effects.ruleset, I'm not sure if one can decrease it. I might try that out.

Re: X marks the WHAT????
X means "Explore", so it's the auto-explore command. If you want to center on your unit without the risk to send it exploring automatically, click it's icon on the left of the screen. There, fixed. It often happens to me that I press O instead of I or P, so I'm used to making sure I presse...
