Re: Can I turn off city flags?

After wasting a lot of time (that I could have been wasting playing the game :D ), I found a solution that works OK for me. I opened ...\data\flags\usa-large.png into a graphics edit program (Irfanview). Then I resized the image from 44X30 to 4X3 pixels, and saved the new tiny image back into the sa...

Re: Can I turn off city flags?

Thanks for the followup. I didn't see your edit until today. I would like to try your change, but I do not know how to access or change a ".SPEC" file. :( The best solution for me would be to turn city flags off. I can easily identify the nation the city is located in by the color of its b...

Re: Can I turn off city flags?

谢谢 (I hope that translates to "Thank you" :) ) I tried most of the selections available in View and Options, but the only way I have found to not display the flag behind the city is to turn off the city display. I want to keep the city display on, but turn off the flag. Thanks!

Can I turn off city flags?

Is there a way to turn off the flags behind each city? The flag blocks half a tile and makes it difficult to see if the tile has been improved. Thanks!

Re: new and I have never won a game except spaceship

Anastasya, I think you are too focused on growth and building, so that you do not get science advancements as quickly as you need. Balance is essential in Freeciv, and that includes balancing growth with science. My game plan focuses much more on science: http://forum.freeciv.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=1...

Re: Channging default save game location

In my Win 7 x64, the Freeciv games are saved to: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\.freeciv\Saves I don't need to change the save location, but it is handy to be able to delete, rename, copy or move saved files. To do that easily, I right click the \.freeciv\Saves save folder, drag to the desktop, a...

Re: 2.5 rc playtest experience

Thanks for the help, but the mechanics of this are beyond my levels of skill or interest. I added my comments to my bug report in hopes that a future version will make More Game Options functional again. Until then, I will manually change the two problem options at the start of a new game, while I s...

Re: 2.5 rc playtest experience

Thanks for the help, but I need more hand holding. :( I created a text file with only the two lines below: set barbarians DISABLED set disasters 0 I saved that file as C:/Program Files(x86)/Games/Freeciv/Data/write current_settings.serv The Data folder is where all the other .serv files are. I click...

Re: 2.5 rc playtest experience

Excellent tutorial on .SERV files. Thanks! After copying the "More Game Options" save file to the .freeciv folder, all of the options I want are saved except two. I want frequency of disasters to be zero, but a new game always starts with 10. I also want no barbarians, but a new game start...

Re: 2.5 rc playtest experience

Thanks for the links, but discussion of .SERV files is a little over my head. The links did point me in the right direction to better identify the problem. In my Win7x64 system, Freeciv saves the changes to "More Game Options" in the file (or folder?) below: C:/Users/Jim/AppData/Roaming/.f...
