Are the action target kind names clear enough?
The action target kind names will be exposed to the ruleset in 3.1. We have "individual cities", "individual units", "unit stacks", "tiles", "tile extras" and "itself". Should "individual cities" drop consistency with "indivi...

Re: Personality type and ruleset preference
I'll begin. My personality type is ENTP. I really like novelty on a conceptual level that is well integrated with the other rules. One thing I really like about experimental - now goldkeep - is how its expanding city radius combines with immigration to allow you to "vacuum clean" the surro...

Personality type and ruleset preference
What is your personality type, what sort of game rules do you like and why? Personality type system Unless you have strong feelings about what personality type system is "the correct one to use" I recommend this free MBTI-like test so all the reported personality types are in the same syst...

Non OneAttack attack move cost has moved to the ruleset. See osdn #41646
An Attack used to cost a full single move. This move cost has now moved to the ruleset. You can now make it cost a single move fragment or multiple full moves.

Question for you who copy sandbox
I know that some ruleset authors go through sandbox looking for ideas. Do you expect stuff there to fit well into a civ2civ3 style ruleset? Should I mark stuff originating from designs that may conflict wildly? The reason why I ask is that I often just copy something from one of my (planning stage) ...

Should ruleup clean up the ruleset by default?
The tool ruleup - I think it first appeared in 3.0 - is able to read a ruleset from the previous version, upgrade it to the current version, and save it. The ruleset compatibility code adds a lot of stuff that is unused to support upgrading other rulesets that needs those features. In 3.1 I have mad...

Re: Changes in what a 3.1 ruleset can do
Spy escape move cost has moved to the ruleset. See osdn #41628 It used to be hard coded that a Spy escaping to the nearest city after performing a spy action would lose all remaining move points doing so. This has now moved to the ruleset using the Action_Success_Actor_Move_Cost effect. You can now...

Re: Obligatory hard action requirements you want dropped
Tl;dr: Quite a bit of effort. Unhardcoding the "CanOccupyCity" unit class flag. Unfortunately, there seems to be a shocking amount of places in the code that just look for the UCF, not for whether units are capable of any "Conquer City" action. This also includes places involvin...

Obligatory hard action requirements you want dropped
Thanks to the obligatory hard requirement support for actions in Freeciv 3.0 you now know why that awesome rule you had planned to implement via an action enabler didn't work. It had a conflict with a hard requirement for the action it enabled. But you want that conflict gone! List the hard requirem...
