Re: Macrociv ruleset for Freeciv

Forget about years. It doesn't take a cavalry unit 20 years to cross between neighbouring cities. Time is relative in Civ games :)

Re: Macrociv ruleset for Freeciv

There is another option: make them slow and almost indestructible (attack: 0, defence: 50). This way the target can see them approaching and launch his own. The quirk is that nukes can be destroyed by other nukes so whoever has more of them wins, but it's closer to the intended behaviour.

Re: Macrociv ruleset for Freeciv

I haven't checked the README yet, just a quick question: so the idea of MAD is that the attacked nation is destroyed, doesn't retaliate, but what does damage to the attacker is the nuclear winter that he can't clean up?

Re: "Simulation" ruleset, v2.x - WORK IN PROGRESS

As always, there is a number of "little things" that need to be fixed and, with this many changes, there is carnage among the help files. Please report all misunderstandings, errors, undocumented changes and everything else that should be fixed here.

Re: How does the treasury actually work?

Ok, so if I had around 40 gold in treasury and income per turn was +40, AND I had a building sold "because no money", I was EXTREMELY unlucky?

How does the treasury actually work?

I thought I understood how the treasury works, but then stuff happened and now I'm not so sure anymore. So, can someone clarify those three options? ; Method of paying unit and improvement gold upkeep ; 0 - The player`s total gold must be non-negative after paying upkeep ; costs associated with each...

Re: How do I learn how to play this?

You said you played Civ 5. Is it that much different from this? This is the basic Civ 1-2-3 emulation, I thought further sequels weren't that different from the originals. You work as many non-centre city tiles as your city has population points. When you build a city, it gains resources from the ce...

Transforming a 2.5 ruleset into 2.6

Is there a shortlist of things that need to be done? How much problematic would it be to simply copy and paste the CONTENT of one ruleset into the other? I know that the thing that needs to be changed in effects is NEGATE into PRESENT (and switching "yes"<->"no). Are there some other ...

Re: How do I learn how to play this?

Among othr thhings, middle-click gives info on the tile, unit and how many turns are left for work completion. It usually takes 1-2 turns to build a road on Grass/Plains. More on hills, much more on mountains, obviously. Use Civilization tab extensively. Learn the F keys. Get to Monarchy. Also, join...
