You may want to reduce the science completely. The right feel of LOTR is a scientific swamp. It's static and basically nothing changes in that regard. You're right. Freeciv shadow edition

When I logged into the multiplayer today there was this odd but oddly beautiful glitch. I can't show the entire screen because that would give away intel, but needless to say that irrigation, roads, etc. also looked oddly cool. Would be interesting to play a game on this design.

Probably, there is a reason it's an unpopular feature. Specific players heve more skill and/or fun with specific advantages, and there would be a pre-game race or dispute for taking an appropriate nation if theyir preferences overlap which nobody wants. Maybe different natons with similar advantage...
