Re: Ideas for better online game experience

Yes, actually, all players could agree on turn 1 to ally, and this way, all would win peacefully. You're not making sense. Firstly, what is "win"? Secondly, all can't "win" in any sense. Someone will alwys have more cities, territory, population, points and/or will build a space...

Re: Ideas for better online game experience

Yes, actually, all players could agree on turn 1 to ally, and this way, all would win peacefully. However this is a very unlikely scenario, and probably not what most people want. No one with ambitions of staying in the game can choose to play peacefully. Being pacifist and having no defence will ju...

Re: Wish/priority/fix list

The lack of hotkeys starts to get really annoying the farther into the game we get. I already put up some hotkeys for units, but the other big lacks are the alt-hotkeys in different dialogues, forcing you to use the mouse way too much. Especially alt-n and alt-p for going through cities are deeply m...

Re: Fair-play and multi-accounting

I agree that room mates and familiy members. should be allowed to use same PC/IP whatever. For "true" multi-accounting, that one player makes multiple accounts, I think that it's too difficult to lay out rules about what is fair and unfair use of it, and also, too hard for the player in qu...

Re: Ideas for better online game experience

Interesting that you don't take with you this quote from the same article you are quoting: "Also, beware including only a few cruel interactions sprinkled in a game. The cruel interactions could easily outshine the game’s main interactions, dominating the player experience despite your intentio...

Re: Discussion about the format of the longturn game

It seems to me that with so many players, getting a free tech when researching philosophy gets a little unbalanced, or at least gives an effect that was probably not intended when making the ruleset. As of today, one can save off researching philosophy for later and get a tech cosing thousands of bu...

Re: Fair-play and multi-accounting

You can still just play 1 civ then. It's not a big disadvantage in a game with so many people. Make 1 good ally. Bam you've evened things out no problem. And I think at least 15-20% of people would like to make a second account. Maybe more. The negative effects seem extremely small and the positive...

Re: Ideas for better online game experience

In the sense of quote of OP, whole freeciv is "cruel". This is a non-issue for a game like Freeciv. Players who wants to just peacefully build their empire with no units are very few, and that's a whole different game.

Unfairness, like multi-accounting, is a totally different issue though.

Re: LongTurn game 6 for Freeciv-web

I would love a world-like map with connected continents and waterways around it all, and even huge inland areas would be good to mix it up.

Also I agree on reducing the player number for some games at least. 150 seems to work very good for G1 with fewer idlers it seems.

Re: Fair-play and multi-accounting

Allowed two accounts? I think most people, including me, wants to play one civ. Controlling several accounts just doesn't feel like the spirit of the game for me.
