Re: developer environment

I do freeciv-web development without using a virtual machine. Got it working by reading the install scripts. When I do Freeciv-web development after a break my set up is often broken. It takes some time to fix it, usually after looking at the changes to scripts/travis-build.sh. I look forward to uni...

Re: Changes in what a 3.1 ruleset can do

Action enabler controlled unit type conversion. See hrm Feature #747765 You can now add additional requirements on unit conversion via the new "Convert Unit" action enabler. Example: Make the "Leader" unit able to convert to an oceanic form but only after "Map Making" ...

Re: Trident tiles for Alien World

Do you need anything else from me to be able to include the Zeppelin or another unit in a tileset? Assuming this is accepted: Do you know how to create a git patch (git format-patch)? If yes: could you put this change in one and attach it to the issue I just filed? If not: if you give a name/email ...

Re: Clarifying relationships: Freeciv.org, Freeciv-Web, Longturn.org

In addition to that the only "development" is pretty much modifying the ruleset files for the games. That's currently pretty much all that can be done there. Hopefully one day the rulesets played there can be used for contributing back something to the actual Freeciv project. That however...

Re: Changes in what a 3.0 ruleset can do

"Attack" can cause a diplomatic incident. See hrm Feature #747549 The "Attack" action can now cause a diplomatic incident via the Casus_Belli_Success effect. This is less significant than it seems: the "Attack" action can currently only be performed against enemy unit ...

Re: Changes in what a 3.0 ruleset can do

Corner case question. What happens if a unit has "Provoking" but is also "Unreachable" but the provoked unit does not have them in their target list? Has relevance for anti-air interception and anti-submarine interception. Natural assumption is that the auto-attack fails to trig...

Re: Strategic bombing, tactical bomber

even better if you can combine the 3 (with structure loss) with probabilities to emulate the varying precisions bombing had back then. Is this about "Strategic Bombing", a wish for more than one "Strategic Bombing" variant or a wish for a new variant of "Bombard"? Unfo...

3.0 is the absolute earliest possible date. After 3.0's data file format freeze 3.1 will be the earliest possible date.

Always caught during expected expected tech theft now depends on the action. See hrm Feature #694097 Doing "Steal Tech" and "Targeted Steal Tech" when a tech theft is expected will always get the thief caught. Doing "Steal Tech Escape Expected" and "Targeted Steal...

Re: Longturn input for freeciv-3.0

As for 3.0 I'm a bit worried about the generalized actions related popups (unit usually does not automatically attack when you order it to move toward enemy unit, but it popups a menu of actions unit may do) They may not be that well suited for competitive multiplayer game (they have been ok in my ...
