Re: Financial management
This would be a great idea to make peace treaties to end a war: the defeat nation would pay some gold every turn to the winners, historically we can see this type of treaty in the Treaty of Versailles. But, the implement this, the diplomatic system would need to suffer a great transformation, becaus...

Re: Fuzzy map and positions
When exploring the sea, normally you don't know where the land is. This search for land is fuzzy enough. About forgetting maps over time, I really like that ideia, maybe that would stop or decrease with the discorery of map making.

Re: New name for Freeciv
I like this. If you want one word, the only one I thought was "Supremacy", but this a bit different from the idea of civilization.AndreasR wrote:Divide et Impera - latin for Divide and Rule - http://www.divideetimpera.org available

Re: New name for Freeciv
Well, if we can't use mundus for "world", we can still use orbs . Cultorbes . I think most people will be able to understand that. Or we take "worlds" out of the name and look for something else that's easy to remember for most people. I hate that name. Personally I like Freeciv...
Literacy
Just one more suggestion today, I think. :D In current games, literacy (in percentage) does not have any effect in the gameplay, I think. It is just an indicator. The importance is not in the literacy but in the effect of the library, university... I would like to suggest a reform in the way literac...

Republic
In default Freeciv rules there are, despite anarchy, five forms of government. Despotism (initial government), Monarchy (a good transitional government from Despotism to future governments like Democracy and Communism, and is really good to make the cities grow, making the nation to expand), Democra...

Re: How to defend against battleships and howitzers
Sorry to respond to myself again: One more advantage of transforming your city centers into hills is that they're impervious to global warming. With habours (seafaring), offshore platforms (miniaturization) and city center hills, it's actually to your advantage to cause as much global warming as po...

Terrain Improvements cost gold
My suggestion is to make terrain improvements, mostly roads and railroads, cost gold. This could also be applied for irrigation and mines. Normally I like to play game with high costs of technology in order to have time to adapt my nation to the new advance. So the game takes a lot of turns; enough ...

Re: First winning, than loosing the lead?
Depending on your current strategy, you may consider some of these changes: - Do not be too expansionist in the beginning, but invest to growing your cities too. In early game cities far away from your capital are rather useless due to corruption. Better to have central cities, where corruption is ...
