Re: Military Questions.

IS there a way to group troops together in armies? I need to be able to reinforce my troops, but see no way to move them as a group. Also, how do catapults and artillery work? In my client, 'v' selects all units on a tile, while Shift-V selects all units of a currently active type on a tile. Really...

Re: Experimental ruleset: a Large poxers best friend

What are the OP images telling us? I haven't used experimental much, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing.

And are those sizes? 76 and so? How? 25 tiles at 4 food each would support 50 people.

Re: fifth trade routes, caravans

How to get the possibility of a fifth trade route aka replace an earlier one in the target city? I can only enter market place and move on. Short of altering the ruleset or the code, you can't; cities can have only 4 trade routes. You *replace* one of the four trade routes by having creating a more...

Re: Difference between 'Hard' and 'Experimental' AI.

Ooh. effects.ruleset seems to make it easy to give diplomacy to barbarian players.

Never noticed that nuclear power gave an extra move to sea units.

Huh, Solar Power is cleaner than Hydro Power, but I'm always building Hoover's Dam for the free Hydro...

Re: How to win a combat

Unless they massively changed things in 2.4.4, units have hit points; you destroy tough units by wearing them down with multiple attacks in a round. Yes, that takes a lot of production; Civ has never rewarded attacking an equal opponent, IMO. If you're playing chess with Civ, you're losing to someon...

Re: Freights?

Math of Freeciv link: ooooh. I'd wondered about unit buy costs, had usually seemed between 3-4x, except for expensive units like Marines or Battleships. I just found that the AIs always built a lot of freights, so it can accelerate the wonder building. Should I also build a lot of freights to rush t...

Re: How many cities are reasonable?

Same here; I aim for maximally large cities eventually, so I try to avoid any overlap. I set mindist=3 to keep the AIs from spamming the world with small crap. As for number, I tend to go for growth but conflict avoidance in Island games. So I'll fill my island, maybe another one or two, then work o...

What are the differences between the other AI modes? Is that documented somewhere outside of the source code?

Re: an easy question

I want to ask that does barbarians invade the AIs' territory, I dislike them, and I hope them to help me win the AIs. Or really I should set no barbarians? The second, I think the Freeciv is more difficult than Civilization series, can anybody share the experience to help new comers to win? Oh yes,...
