Re: Longturn

Time to break it out then.. it's back up.

Greatturn functionality has not yet been restored. Maybe I'll get to that in the next week.

Re: Longturn

Since no news here, I'll setup civland on its own server. I expect it should be running towards the end of the month.

Re: Longturn

My impression, based on my time on GT, was that it was much more relaxed (maybe a questionable impression) and less competitive than LT. However, the basic idea was the same. Given that GT has been gone for so long, I'd imagine that those who wanted to play on LT would have gone there already. My un...

Re: Longturn

I have not had a chance to audit the GreatTurn code yet (or even look at it, to be honest), and I refuse to put it up before I assure that it can legally be released. If there are dependencies on non-GPL code, they will have to be removed and replaced. So that will have to wait until I have a chance...

Re: Longturn

Believe it or not, I am alive. I have the code & website in hands, but haven't had the time to do much with it yet. I should have Civland back up reasonably soon (though, maybe it'd be better to integrate it here?). I hate to have the community split as it was, and I think this is a more logical...

Re: Longturn

Hi Andres, Point by point: 1) I believe that the Greatturn code should be released to the general public, and my plan is to do do just that. However, I don't agree that it is currently in violation of the GPL. If you read the GPL version 2 closely, access to source code is only necessary if the prod...

Re: Longturn

Excellent discussion. I'm waiting on making any final decision until I get Civland back up and running. Once it is, hopefully many of the community will return and we can discuss the matter in further detail. I'd prefer a donation based system, but I worry that may not cover the monthly outlay. I to...

Re: Longturn

Status Update: The domain names are now registered with me. The files will be on their way over soon. As for hosting, I'm still debating the best way forward. I'm considering a dedicated server at a hosting provider. The upside is that the site and the game servers would have their own machine. This...

Re: Longturn

To clarify the situation,

I have purchased the whole lot (domain names, code, and website content). I have some plans for both greatturn servers and websites and am open to working with the wider community.

Watch here for further announcements. If you have any questions, let me know.
