Re: I need help with units and technology.
1. Units will always fight until one is dead (unlike for example Civ V). Both will never die at the same time unless the attacking unit is a missile. I think you can middle click to see a percentage chance of killing a unit with the selected unit, except in cities where you have to guess what defend...

Re: AI has 100% tax and forgets science
It might depend on the ruleset and world size. I ran the game with civ2civ3 ruleset and in a fairly small world, with enough space for just 3-5 cities per player (AI didn't even use that space though). I was using the default ruleset, citymindist 3, size 10 (so fairly small for 15 civs), fractal ge...

Re: AI has 100% tax and forgets science
All in all, I'd say all of AI problems stem from it being too fond of war. Endless war with no way to stop it. Basically, the best way to defeat AI is to let it have its war and waste resources for no gain, and meanwhile developing your cities behind walls and solid defenses. Found out that 2.6 is ...

Re: AI has many problems and needs to be improved
The only thing I think I would find missing from playing your way is that you don't get any changing diplomatic landscape. I like the idea of wars breaking out, cease fires and peace treaties being signed, former friends becoming enemies and vice versa, etc. The way I suggested does allow for this t...

Re: AI has many problems and needs to be improved
In my opinion, the main problem of the AI is that they waste most of their resources trying to kill each other. I mean, the AI is not that bad when there is peace, but once they start a war, they stop developing their cities, and they only build military buildings and units. The problem is that the...

Re: Trait values
http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/Traits Minimum is 1. As far as I remember (can't check just now) max is 50*50=2500 ('default * 50', like minimum is 'default / 50 = 1'), but my experience has been that like with any AI related rule change, one should not change it much from the default or the AI break...

Trait values
nations.ruleset now has traits: [default_traits] ;expansionist = 50 ;trader = 50 ;aggressive = 50 I'd like to have a play with changing these default values, but I can't find any documentation on what these mean. Is the minimum 0? The maximum 100? Do they affect each other? Do they have to add up to...

Re: GUI Details
Come on guys! Why can't I get 'combat animation' beyond the 100 barrier? GriffonSpade says it's hardcoded, so why every body else are able to change it? I know this is quite a late reply, but no one can set it higher than 100 as it's a hard-coded limit. 100ms is for every step of the animation, so ...

Re: "Love system"
I definitely think making the spaceship more expensive and therefore more difficult to build is a good idea. The only thing is, at the moment the AI reduces its love with any civilization building a spaceship, but won't usually declare war until they actually launch it. While I have seen a spaceship...

Re: National Colors in Diplomacy
maybe the entire line could have a greenisch backdrop Another annoying thing is they refer to opponents by their personal name, without country indication or flag display but in my mind I think of the opponents more like the people/countries, not their leader, who often has a difficult name too. I ...
