Re: New musicpack!
Three years later, I've copied the Ross Bugden music in the SongOfDoom musicset to a YouTube playlist, if folks want to check the CC-BY-SA licences, create fresh Ogg / Opus / MP3 audio versions, or upload more music to the Wiki.

Re: environmental impact of deforestation
Since this game puts some focus on the environmental impact of civilization, it would be nice if deforestation would influence global warming or lead to natural catastrophies to the adjacent cities or have some sort of economic effect. Same aplies to jungle. Strong support, at the moment I consider...

Great, hopefully the stuff available on dropbox ends up on freeciv.org later.Dino the Dinosore wrote:Installers for Mac users are now available

Re: Game changes after start
Can you clarify, please? Classic has 4 bases (fortress, buoy, airbase, ruins), Radius has 5 (additional marina), I can't switch from classic to radius or v.v., there's a built-in plausibility check. Internally almost everything has numbers, and the, say, classic building #3 could be completely diff...

Re: Selectable Civilization Bonuses
This idea is based on Empire Earth game. Sounds like a FreeCol feature, each nation either has or can get one unique bonus (=no other nation can get the same bonus), and depending on the bonus the start units are different. It's nice, but it would be hard to get a similar feature in Freeciv, it wou...

Re: Game changes after start
you can edit maps through save file (if you are absolutely sure what you're doing), but to change the ruleset in the middle of the game, all you need to do is simply reload the save file with the changed ruleset (and hope the changes won't crash the game). Am I correct? Not exactly, e.g., it won't ...

Re: Where to get older freeciv versions?
Also interesting, e.g., if folks are willing to overwrite all installed 2.5.x files by "portable" 2.5.y files: portableapps/files/FreeCiv%20Portable/cazfi wrote:https://sourceforge.net/projects/freeciv/files/

Re: How to make a spaceship?
If you only need 3 modules to build a minimal spaceship, why would you ever want to build more than 3 modules? Indeed, this spaceship stuff is about as convincing as the FreeCol "revenge" crap ( flying dutchman etc.). Any decent ruleset should disable the hilarious space race as de...

Already answered, but if there is a page like variant2 on the Wiki it's supposed to offer basic info.Arbogast wrote:searched for hours for the Variant2 mod and found several -many- pages about it but nowhere where to download it.

Re: new researches ?
Cryptology (req. Computers + Espionage) In radius I have cryptography (req. Espionage + Theology). It undoes the negative effect of communism on cathedrals, and obsoletes colosseum by cinema. The cinema is a "colosseum II", same idea as barracks I, II, III. Not really exciting, I just wan...
