Too bad you can't redesign the sprites and how the game looks in general; it'd be quite awesome to have "actual" Orcs instead of barbarians, to build or buy castles looking like these in Italy as city upgrades or as the cities themselves, different looking races all over the board, special...

Eh, I don't know, in turn based games, be it Civilizations, tabletop wargames or chess, I often fare better when having my turn after the others, so that I can see what they're doing and anticipate their actions.

Wait, that's a possibility? And how do you manage your production, research etc? Does it get updated automatically when "real" civilizations discover this or that tech?

Looks like it as well to me, you arennn't following the technological evolution. Could you try doing more research, even if it means sacrificing development in different directions? And if you absolutely, definitely can't progress faster, then try to swarm your enemies with technologically inferior ...
