Sorry by not answering earlier...
So the solution would be that everbody starts with the same amount of units, in fact, they don't have to be exactly the same type, as long as they amount to the same quantity.

I may be changing the initial topic a little but it is related.
I get a little frustrated when land locked lakes have salt water and I end up building a ship.
Does some kind of trick can be used to changing it to normal water?

even just for a handful of units - might imbalance things. Caedo: From what I understand in your post "...might imbalance things." in a positive way. less units = more money in the coffers, right? As you said "homeless units pay no upkeep." Is this BAD? To me, this unbalance is ...

Huh? I don't get this part. Homed and Homeless units are exactly the same, as far as I can see. Or they are not?

The other side of the coin is that those homeless units are GOOD. 1) As they exist at the begining of a game, they don't cost anything thus saving money. 2) Workers, Explorers and Horsemen (I include them in my starts) that discovers other units are also free. 3) Homeless units have the same capacit...

I ran the game a-new and was trilled to see my Franks flag show in the cities. What I didn't notice was the shields -big and small- remained in the "old" Frankish format. What am I missing?
