Re: The signups for LT49 are open

Yes. 2.6 is planned sooner than later. This game will be 2.5 because we want to launch one sooner than later and 2.6 can be worked out while this game is running.

The signups for LT49 are open

LT49 will be a Freeciv 2.5 based team game. http://longturn.net/game/LT49/ It's possibly island based and it's played with the more traditional longturn.net ruleset that's based on LT47. The ruleset will have few minor changes mostly affecting the early game. The game is planned to start mid July bu...

Re: What is LongTurn - intro

The address of longturn.org has changed. It's now longturn.net and while there are "some" issues on the web site, the games are still running and new ones are planned.

Re: Corbeau's ruleset (2.5) - v1.0 released

50 cities for the upkeep alone? It's going to be a time consuming end game if it gets that far with the techs. The upkeep is very hard to understand from multiplayer balancing point of view. Yes, it's kind of nice to pay the price for getting free stuff by stealing but it also slows down the game an...

Re: Corbeau's ruleset (2.5) - v1.0 released

LT40 and the upcoming LT46 (based on LT40) had a different take on city radius with one city having the possibility of max radius for the early game and all of the cities by around mid game. There one of the ideas with the massive city working areas was not to let the players to use all the tiles bu...

Re: Combat_Rounds effect: to kill or to survive?

I would not allow any gained veteran levels if both units survive. Or maybe at least have a ruleset setting for controlling how close to getting killed the unit(s) need to be so that a promotion is allowed. Maybe a setting for both defender and attacked. Another thing with gaining experience is exac...

Re: Ruleset complexity discussion

LT40 was a special case with all the wild ideas we implemented. The basic game even there however was still pretty much the same. In the end most changes only affect the pace of the game by allowing different ways of implementing the strategies. All this requires that quick conquers and one turn fal...

Re: Ruleset complexity discussion

The games on longturn.org have been based on civ2civ3. Nowdays there are tons of changes compared to the base civ2civ3 ruleset but those changes are there for a reason. The reason is exactly making the game more enjoyable for people playing the multiplayer games. While the Freeciv engine has some is...

A different kind of new multiplayer game

A Freeciv game with 2.5 native client. Starting in about one month. http://longturn.org/game/LT42/ This one is for playing with lots of people with 23h turns and with a very different ruleset. You can find more info about the ruleset here: http://forum.freeciv.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=75385 Ne...
