Re: Discussion about unitwaittime and its length

Canik's Con List. I'm only doing 'Cons' because any 'Pros' are just a 'Con' of the other. Keeps the list shorter, easier to read while still giving a full picture. ***** Cons of No UnitWaitTime: Double-move attacks will become a thing. Resulting in: a) Surprise blitzkriegs being far more devasting. ...

Re: LongTurn Game 8 for Freeciv-web

You need to pay attention to the conversation. You said that there were lots of empty spots in games. I said that this was due to a lot of games and that applied only for late games, in early games all spots got taken, in later games less people joined in because they were busy in earlier games. Yo...

Re: LongTurn Game 8 for Freeciv-web

I replaced someone but it's hard to see how that is very relevant. Joining as a brand new nation wouldn't necessarily be better. What is your goal here exactly? To make the map so huge and the player spots so many that someone can join at turn 130 and still get an unfounded civilization in untouched...

Re: LongTurn Game 8 for Freeciv-web

You forget that there were 7 games open and that not everybody was eager to play in all of them. That's why all spots were not filled. In the first few games there were no empty spots very quickly. Now that there is only one, I don't think it's a problem if it's so massive. Bruh, I joined G2 at tur...

Re: LongTurn Game 8 for Freeciv-web

Really, considering idle humans players can be replaced by new humans.. we could prolly do 100 player and still have plenty of spots always available for new player no problem.

Re: LongTurn Game 8 for Freeciv-web

You don't get it. Active players and idlers don't come in batches, "active first and then idlers fill up". When a random player appears, you don't know if he is an idler of a future active. It's simply first come, first served. If what you're trying to say is the people who join might go ...

Re: LongTurn Game 8 for Freeciv-web

The thing is, there will be roughly 60-80% of idlers regardless of the number of players so more players gives more active people. No that's not a thing. That's not how it works. If we set the game to 30 players it'd be a very low percentage of idlers. If we set the game to 1 million players, we wo...

Re: LongTurn Game 8 for Freeciv-web

wwwoooooowwwwwwww.... If a game isn't fun anymore we can choose to leave on our own. Making that decision for us is.. not real cool. I'm feeling VERY hesistant about starting in Game 8 now.. especially with it set to 300 players again. We don't have 300 players. Virtually everyone agrees it should b...

Re: Ideas for better online game experience

50 players too low should be at least 100. But I agree we should not dumb down the game for whiny quitter noobs. The complexity, challenge and 'cruelty' is whar addicts people to the game.

Re: Ideas for better online game experience

Pungtryne, you can discuss semantics all you want, but as long as you refuse to acknowledge that "peaceful" in "peaceful day" and "peaceful" in "peaceful person" are two pretty different categories and that you can't use one to explain the other, you are simp...
