NeverProtects
Just so everyone knows, SCL released a "NeverProtects patch", a unit flag that allows a ruleset to specify for individual units whether they have any unreachable defense over a stack. This is closer to the eventual goal of the sweet spot in the middle, to avoid the extremism freeciv curren...

Re: NoStackKilling unit flag
Wahazar is correct that this would be a good feature. Any feature that allows finer programming of rulesets is a good thing. There are far too many paradoxes and mazes of catch-22's to try to work around in making a ruleset now. Each new feature like this would be a good thing. Ideally, unreachablep...

Re: Ruleset complexity discussion
1. I want to be clear that I think many features or adaptations in civ2civ3-based rulesets are indeed innovative and have the potential to be carefully adjusted in ways to increase what I call "strategic ceiling". But I feel so sad when I see it implemented in a way that flattens. We might...

Re: Corbeau's ruleset (2.5) - v1.0 released
The migrant is for some reason a fascinating unit to me, in which I nevertheless see much chaos that is hard to properly balance or tame. Something caught my eye when I saw "Migrant is a Unique Unit". It made me get a wonder or a hunch, "is he onto something here, a step toward the so...

Re: Ruleset complexity discussion
With all due respect, Corbeau conveniently ignores that qrtv joined AFTER the first quarter of the game and defeated him. Always take it with a grain of salt when someone less competent is getting on his high horse to critique someone more competent. When pride is at stake, people often aren't reall...

Re: Ruleset complexity discussion
Rulesets are like beloved babies to those who play them. So it's like being the child development counselor at the school, when you are asked to explain to the loving family about the cognitive disorders their child has. "How is Yanko dumb? Give me an example! Explain to us!" they ask you,...
